Prayer Shawl Ministry is a unique and powerful expression of God’s love and care. We will gather for knitting or crocheting, conversation and snacks with the specific purpose of making and blessing Prayer Shawls.
Cargill UMC has a rich history of Prayer Shawl ministry, and many people have been touched by the loving talent of knitters and crocheters.
It combines the love of knitting/crocheting with compassionate care into a prayerful ministry which reaches out to those in need of comfort or solace, and in celebration or joy. As the shawls are knit or crocheted, many blessings are prayed into every stitch. The shawls are often created with a particular person in mind. Upon completion, a blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way.
You don’t need to be an expert knitter/crocheter. There will be help for anyone wishing to learn to knit/crochet.
