United Women in Faith

Faith in action

Cargill United Methodist Church has an active unit of the United Women in Faith, previously United Methodist Women.

The United Women in Faith is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.

Our unit is often known for events it sponsors throughout the year, such as rummage sales, bake sales, the Christmas cookie walk, and a spring salad luncheon.

But the story behind those events is that each gathering helps raise money for Christ’s work in our community and world.

The vision of the United Women in Faith is “turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world.”

Across the global United Women in Faith, members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

Our United Women in Faith also sponsor a reading program. It annually suggests a series of books and study resources available to anyone to enhance knowledge of God’s mission and how it applies to contemporary life.

The United Women in Faith’s values include:
• Promoting the empowerment of women, children and youth
• Promoting anti-racism and multiculturalism
• Promoting inclusion and equity
• Promoting fair labor practices
