Welcome To Cargill United Methodist Church

You are welcome here whether you’ve never been part of a church before, or you’re a longtime church member.

We are an 800-member congregation located in the south-central Wisconsin city of Janesville, Wisconsin.

As a congregation of The United Methodist Church, we are locally focused and globally connected. We are committed to the city of Janesville and surrounding areas of Rock County.

Pastor Steve Scott has served as lead pastor of Cargill UMC since July 2020. Our associate pastor is Seongmin Kim. Meet other members of our valued leadership team.

Our Beginnings

Cargill UMC has a history dating to Methodism’s beginnings in Janesville in the 1830s.

In the early 1900s, the church took its name from William W. Cargill, founder of the Cargill Inc. who gave a substantial gift to the congregation in memory of his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Cargill.

The present church has no connection to the global food corporation of the same name based in Bloomington, Minn.
