Sunday School for Children
2012–2013 Sunday School Calendar
Family Worship Sunday May 5
Rotation 9 – Pentecost May 12-26
During the month of May, children will learn that through the Holy Spirit, we know that God is with us, helping us live as faithful disciples. Children will learn to define the Holy Spirit as “God with us now.” They will learn what Pentecost is and learn why we celebrate Pentecost as the birthday of the church. The children study a different Bible story each month and explore it each week in a different way through cooking, science, art, movies, computers, or games.
Don’t forget to bring your Bible or a friend every Sunday so that you can choose a prize from our prize basket!
Confirmation and High School Sunday School take place at 9:00 a.m.
Sunday School for Preschool through 7th Grade takes place at 10:30 a.m.
Bible Journey is our workshop-rotation Sunday school program. Children spend 3 weeks on the same Bible story in hands-on, creative, multi-media workshops. Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade rotate to a different workshop (classroom) each week to explore the Bible story in a different way—through drama/movies, cooking, science, games, art, or in our computer lab. The mission of Bible Journey is to teach children the Bible stories well enough so they can retell them with confidence. The Workshop Rotation format allows us to accomplish this by reinforcing the story through repetition, using multiple teaching methods.
