Children's ChurchUsing a variety of resources, we help children learn about Christian symbols and the seasons of the church year.  Children learn best from watching and doing, but for those parents who feel their children are not ready to spend a whole hour in the Sanctuary, Children's Church is an introduction to worship.   The children begin in the Sanctuary at 9:00, then  go into the chapel after the children's message.

Jesus and the Gospels  This class begins with a 30-minute video lecture by Professor Luke Timothy Johnson, Robert W. Woodruff Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Emory University's Candler School of Theology.  The remaining time is spent discussing the lecture.  The ongoing course focuses not simply on Jesus, but also on the Gospels as literary compositions.  We will look at how they came to be, how they are related one another, and how they communicate through their literary structure, plot, character development, themes and symbolism.  Meets in Room 110 at 9:00.

Bible Lessons For Youth  is designed to help 6th, 7th and 8th grade youth understand and apply the Bible to their lives, using a “Bible-to-life” approach.  Understanding that boys and girls learn differently, we divide the classes by gender.  At 10:30; Boys in Room 108; Girls in the Library

Seeing Gray in a Black and White World  Everyone agrees that America is polarized, with ever-hardening positions held by people less and less willing to listen to one another. No one agrees on what to do about it. One solution that hasn't yet been tried, say Adam Hamilton, is for thinking persons of faith to model for the rest of the country a richer, more thoughtful conversation on the political, moral, and religious issues that divide us.  At 10:30 in Room 111.
