Sunday School For All Ages!
Children's Church – Using a variety of resources, we help children learn about Christian symbols and the seasons of the church year. Children learn best from watching and doing, but for those parents who feel their children are not ready to spend a whole hour in the Sanctuary, Children's Church is an introduction to worship. The children begin in the Sanctuary at 9:00, then go into the chapel after the children's message. Generation Change Freshmen and Sophomores meet to learn about personal finance and how much they are valued by God. Meets in Room 11 downstairs. Jesus and the Gospels This class begins with a 30-minute video lecture by Professor Luke Timothy Johnson, Robert W. Woodruff Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Emory University's Candler School of Theology. The remaining time is spent discussing the lecture. The ongoing course focuses not simply on Jesus, but also on the Gospels as literary compositions. We will look at how they came to be, how they are related one another, and how they communicate through their literary structure, plot, character development, themes and symbolism. Meets in Room 110 at 9:00. 10:30AM Classes Toddlers and Twos Directed play and a Bible story for two-year olds (by Sept 15). In room 106. Seeing Gray in a Black and White World Everyone agrees that America is polarized, with ever-hardening positions held by people less and less willing to listen to one another. No one agrees on what to do about it. One solution that hasn't yet been tried, say Adam Hamilton, is for thinking persons of faith to model for the rest of the country a richer, more thoughtful conversation on the political, moral, and religious issues that divide us. At 10:30 in Room 111.
